This week we had a training program on BEA technologies which went upto saturday. Last week we had a planned for a Humpi trip this weekend. Since the training program spanned upto saturday we cannot make it. We have postponed the plan to the coming weekend provided friends are not travelling out on projects. Even though I am a person who which to see places, I havent packed my bags quite often for a long period. When I think about travel, India has so many places to be seen. The cities and towns I have seen so for are very few. I haven't seen so many places in Tamilnadu itself. If I count the places I have visited It may come around only 30!!
My father's was a transferable government job and the govt policy was to transfer the staff in his department atleast once in three years. So I studied almost 6 schools. My school history goes as
LKG Polur
UKG Ranipet
I Standard Ranipet in a different school
II & III Standards Vellore Bala Mandhir
IV & V Tiruvannamalai Carmel Kindergarden
VI to Higher Secondary Danish Mission Higher Secondary School
My engineering was no exception
I Year in Vellore Institute of Technology
II Year onwards Thanthai Periyar Govt. Institute of Technology, Vellore
All of this while my father didnt own a house. We lived in rented houses only. I doubt if any body would have moved between so many houses as my family did. It can go as a separate blog if I start writing about it.

Computer Games
How many of us dont love to play a game or two on the computer. Initially when I started playing games in the computer I used to love shooting games. The first arcade game I used to play was Outlaws. It was only a demo version. Then I came across games like Blood, Road rash and Need for speed.
But out of all games I played the one I like most was the Age of Empires II. It took me almost a day to understand the game without reading the help. But once I understood the game it was a real treat. The visuals and the strategy building was ultimate. Even though there was a next release of this game (Age of Mythology) I will vote for Age of Empires II only.
Then we have the default games that comes along with Windows OS. The minesweeper was the one which I like most in that. I was a hardcore minesweeper player and prefer to play only expert mode. Most of the times I complete the games between 180 to 230 seconds. I was thinking that I am fast. One day I saw my friend playing it and completing it in around 90 seconds more than once!!

The First Tour
The first tour that I remember was also when I was around 6 years old kid. Myself and my elder brother went on this tour along with my father and his office collegues. We went to Mahalipuram. I dont remember the other places we visited then.
It was the first time I saw a beach. The sight of the sea with water spread across beyond the imagination of the kid is what struck me. One my father's collegue held my hand and took me inside the water. Oh my god! The land under my feet is moving and I was frieghtened and started shouting. As I it was my first encounter with sea, I didnt realized that it is the erosion of the soil. Even now after so many years whenever I go near the sea, I still remember my first day with the sea. Eventhough we have seen other places in that tour nothing is in my mind expect this.
After that I have visited Mahabalipuram so many times. Every time I go there I find something new. With its amazing sculptures and the rock temples the place is really a treat to watch.

First Journey
How many of us remember our first journey in our childhood. As I wind back my memories I can go back upto my Class I. I was around 5 or 6 years then. I was in my school on that day. I the afternoon my father had come to the school to my surprise. If he comes to school usually it will be in the evenings and it was a surprise to see him in the afternoon.
He was taking with the teacher for sometime. Then he called me asked to carry my schoolbag (a box if my memory is correct ). Then he picked my brother also who was studying in the next school. I was sitting in the front bar of the cycle (cycle was somewhat a luxury item for our family then!) and my brother in the pillion behind. My father was peddalling the cycle towards home. One thing which is still fresh in my memory of the trip is that my father overtook another cycle during that journey. As a kid I was exicted and my father was a hero then, because the person in the other cycle was also peddalling it. I didnt knew about the science of weights and measures then and my thought was my father is strong and beat him in the race.
As we reached home I saw my mother was crying and some of our dresses were being packed and my parents rushed to busstand along with us. I dont remember asking why my mother was crying. I only remember why she is crying when we are going towards our native. My father was a Govertment servant then and was working in a place which was about 3 and half hours journey from my native. As we reached our native and we reached to the village where my mother's elder sister lived. After reaching there I was told that my mother's elder sister had expired.
Till date the things I remember from this journey are, 1. my mother's crying face, 2. my father overtaking the cycle and my periamma's (mother's elder sister equivalent in Tamil) death.
In any travel we have some or other things like this which we carry along the life. I will write about my first tour next.
